Scottish born Singer/Songwriter Colin McKechnie, now residing in Mississauga,Ontario,Canada, has recently released his first compilation of original compositions entitled, ?My own hand ?.
After immigrating to Canada, Colin worked as a sideman with various touring and recording artists, sharing the stage with the likes of Gino Vanelli and David Clayton Thomas. He has also contributed to various other original projects, spanning musical styles from pop/rock to jazz fusion.
Colin was motivated to produce his own work after he qualified as one of the 10 winners on the? WOLF MUSIC SEARCH? (1994).
?My own hand,? is a collection of 10 well crafted pieces, flavored throughout with
jazz , Latin, rock, and reggae influences, fitting more comfortably into the adult/contemporary category of musical stylings,.
?Calderwood Road ?Colin?s collaboration with Don Baird, is another rather eclectic mixture of styles. The material has gained the attention of some of Toronto?s more tenured musicians as well as with Taxi and Broad jam members. The intention is to market the work internationally and Colin and Don are currently in rehearsal with the band; The C.M.P. Collective, prior to the debut performance of ?Calderwood Road? with selected pieces from the ?My own hand? album to be performed in Toronto Fall 2005.
